How to Choose Your Balance Board

Its principle is simple yet powerful: a board placed on a roller (or a ball), which creates controlled instability. The result? Each movement engages your stabilizing muscles, improves your posture, and strengthens your core.

Originally called Rola-Bola in the circus world, the Balance Board was used by acrobats to develop their coordination and agility. Today, it has found its place far beyond the stage: in gyms, day camps, schools, and even under the desks of some companies.

How to choose your board according to your experience level

Your experience level with a balance board isn't directly related to your fitness level or athletic background. It's a new tool for most people, so we generally recommend starting with a beginner model. Here are a few options:

Standard Models (BEGINNER)

Designed for beginners, our Standard models are the ideal entry point into the world of Balance Boards. They have been designed to offer a safe, accessible and enjoyable experience from the very first use.

Each board is equipped with stoppers under the ends, acting like a safety net. These stoppers prevent the board from rolling beyond a certain limit, thus reducing the risk of falls and sudden movements.

Whether you want to improve your balance, strengthen your posture or simply add a little movement to your daily routine, the Standard model will accompany you with confidence.

✔ Practice safely
✔ Extend the enjoyment of use
✔ Reduce the risk of injury
✔ Learn at your own pace

Freestyle Models (INTERMEDIATE):

The Freestyle model is aimed at users who want to push their limits and explore a freer practice of the Balance Board.

At first glance, it looks very similar to the Standard model: same size, same surface area, same quality. The big difference? The absence of locking notches under the board.
This means there is no longer a mechanical limit to movement, which opens the door to more creative, dynamic maneuvers inspired by urban culture.

This model is perfect for those who have already mastered the basics and want to push their coordination, control and creativity further, without the limitations imposed by stoppers.

✔ Tricks inspired by skateboarding (ollies, pop shove-its, kickflips, etc.)
✔ Breakdancing or freestyle body movements
✔ Smooth, uninterrupted routines

SWELL (ADVANCED) Models:

The Swell model retains the freedom of the Freestyle model, but adds a dimension of increased sensitivity thanks to its concave shape (curved upwards).

This unique shape amplifies the board's responsiveness when there is a loss of balance or weight transfer. This demands greater precision, more control, and excellent awareness of one's center of gravity.

✔ Experienced users
✔ For those who want to refine their proprioception
✔ Freestyle enthusiasts who want more of a technical challenge

Without stoppers, and with a demanding curve, the Swell model offers a powerful, fluid, and ultra-sensory experience. A deliberate choice for those looking to push the boundaries of movement.

Model 360 (EXPERT):

The 360 model is our most immersive and sensory board. Unlike other models that rely on a roller, the 360 model rests on a central ball, allowing for 360-degree freedom of movement.

Beneath the board, an integrated circular stopper runs all the way around, acting as a locking mechanism and preventing the ball from coming out of its base. This subtle safety feature preserves the experience while limiting the risk of uncontrolled imbalance.

This is the ideal model for watersports enthusiasts who want to recapture the feeling of riding a wave, even out of the water. It allows you to work on weight transfers, lateral stability, and coordination in all directions.

✔ Surfers
✔ Paddleboard (SUP) enthusiasts
✔ Wakesurf and wakeboard riders
✔ For those passionate about free and fluid sensations

Each session on the 360 deeply stimulates the stabilizing muscles, strengthens dynamic balance, and brings you closer to the sensations of board sports… without needing waves.

What shape of board should I choose?

The shape of your Balance Board is primarily a matter of style and aesthetics. It does not influence the level of difficulty or the performance of the board during use.

Each shape we offer is inspired by the different board sports we love and practice: Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Surfing and Kitesurfing, Wakeboarding and Paddleboarding (SUP)

These shapes have been designed to offer you more visual variety , so you can choose a board that looks like you… without compromising functionality.

Regardless of the shape you choose, the board's behavior will remain the same : same stability, same feel, same enjoyment

Tips for getting started on your Balance Board

  • Use a mat to reduce the roller speed and facilitate a gradual and safe adaptation.
  • Start near a kitchen counter or behind a sofa, to help you keep your balance with your hands if needed.
  • Adopt a good posture: knees slightly bent, chest straight, eyes fixed forward, buttocks contracted.
  • Introduce the board to your friends and family members… but supervise them during their first attempts.

Why use a Balance Board?

Whether you are a board sports enthusiast, hockey player, home yogi or simply an energetic child, there are plenty of good reasons to integrate the Balance Board into your daily life.

Working on proprioception, coordination and reflexes:
By standing on the board, you develop your ability to sense your body's position in space — an essential skill in sports like snowboarding, surfing, paddleboarding, or skateboarding.

Strengthening the stabilizing muscles:
It's an excellent tool for activating the stabilizers of the hips, knees, ankles, and abdominal muscles (the famous "core"). It perfectly complements hockey players' training and helps prevent lower body injuries.

Improve focus and concentration:
Whether during functional training, a yoga session, or at the office, the Balance Board keeps your brain alert and improves your ability to stay focused and engaged.

An endless movement...

Using a Balance Board is like surfing a wave… without end. It's fun, engaging, and sometimes even meditative. No matter your fitness level, it's a simple way to add movement and body awareness to your daily routine.

But beyond its functionality, there's a subtle magic to using a Balance Board. It's enjoyable, almost addictive, to the point that time flies. You get on it "just for a few minutes," and you realize you've stayed much longer, simply because you enjoy it.

The plank deeply engages muscles that are often ignored, stabilizing muscle chains that we never consciously think to train. And yet, they are essential to our balance, our posture, and our overall health.

This feeling of discovery—of pushing your limits without pressure—is reminiscent of the first moments when you learned to ride a bike. That exact moment when, without anyone's help, you found your balance, moved forward on your own, and felt that euphoria mixed with pride, freedom, and fun. The Balance Board brings you back there, to that pure and authentic feeling of progress.

And perhaps that's the real power of this board: to make you move, to make you smile... and to make you vibrate.
